Earlier this month Rochester Art Collectors collaborated with Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M) and The Village Gallery located in The Village of Caledonia to highlight an exhibition of works created out-of-doors in natural light!

This was a wonderful opportunity to spend some time in a sophisticated commercial gallery run by an artist-owner in a lovely village setting.

Program Details

As usual, we carved out the first thirty minutes for attendees to experience the exhibition and socialize before the program began. Simple nibbles and sips were provided by our host.

The Village Gallery organized this wonderful exhibit for the month of May that included 25 artists who have painted throughout the year at GCV&M in Mumford.

The artists had access to GCV&M to paint on location. Many of the artists prefer Plein Air painting and the work was done at the location while others may have done the work in their studio after visiting and making sketches or taking photos. The exhibit will have several paintings by each artist that may vary by season.

Rome Celli from Rochester Art Collectors will welcome attendees and introduce artist-owner of The Village Gallery, Bill White, who will give a brief background about The Village Gallery and then talk about the gallery's annual Plein Air Exhibition done in collaboration with Genesee Country Museum & Village

About Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M)

Genesee Country Village & Museum
was founded in 1966 with the goal of preserving the architecture of the Genesee Valley region in a recreated historic village, providing context for the telling of New York State and 19th-century American history. The Museum now covers 600 acres and includes the Historic Village, the John L. Wehle Gallery, and the Genesee Country Nature Center, all of which provide interactive programs, fascinating exhibits, and special events to help you live and experience history.

GCV&M is the largest and most comprehensive living history museum in New York State – and the third-largest in the United States. Chartered as an educational institution by the NYS Board of Regents, the Museum offers opportunities to see, smell, taste, touch, explore, and experience our 68 historic buildings; more than 20,000 artifacts; wildlife paintings, drawings, and sculptures spanning centuries; the living collections in our gardens, on our working farm and at our Nature Center; and the gorgeous landscape that first brought settlers to this region.
