Rochester Art Collectors' fantasy art collecting game, Red Dot Challenge, is scheduled to launch with the first full version of the game ("Season 1") on November 1, 2024. Red Dot Challenge is a fantasy art collecting game with a social media twist that takes place in real time at real places with real art. Everyone participates alongside the players. The game was conceived in 2019 by Rochester Art Collectors to bring the idea of collecting art to a wider audience. A pilot version was scheduled for spring of 2020 but later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It remained dormant - but not forgotten - until last fall. Season 1 of Red Dot Challenge incorporates the original vision of public participation via social media. In addition, it includes a number of game expansions as compared the pilot version of the game. Season 1 will fully integrate social media into game play in a way that allows anyone on the internet to follow and comment on the A pilot version of the game ran for several months last year at this time and wrapped up at the end of January, 2024 with a big "REVEAL" event on February 1, 2024. Although the pilot version was limited both in the number of players and the amount visibility, it demonstrated the viability of the concept.
