A selection of recent art acquisitions found in private collections in the metro Rochester area and the stories that mark their importance to collectors.

A public exhibition of works sourced entirely from area art collections and exhibited in collaboration with the Patricia O'Keefe Ross Gallery in the Skalny Welcome Center on the campus of St. John Fisher University.

About the exhibition

Rochester Art Collectors, in collaboration with St. John Fisher University, is presenting a curated non-commercial public art exhibition sourced entirely from metro Rochester's private art collectors.

The purpose of this exhibition is to bring attention to the importance of private art collecting in the local arts ecosystem; illustrating how private art collectors enhance the culture and support artists and arts venues all while stimulating their own lives. A wide range of collections and collectors will be represented proving collecting art is not limited to only to certain particular categories.

EXHIBITION & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Theme: Our curator will choose a grouping of works that best exhibit the intention of the theme: "Expressed Or Implied: A selection of recent art acquisitions found in private collections in the metro Rochester area and the stories that mark their importance to collectors." Due to space limitations not every submission will be accepted into this exhibition. If a submission is not chosen, this is not a reflection of the quality of the work or the source of the submission.
Submissions: Up to ten works of art may be submitted by one source collector (you). All submissions must be legally owned by you and created by someone other than yourself. All media in all formats will be considered including both two dimensional and three dimensional works. Please upload one picture of each submission along with the approximate dimensions of each submission. Not every submission will be included in the exhibition. If a submission is not chosen, this is not a reflection of the quality of the work or the source of the submission. The curator will be selecting works based on size of the gallery space, the exhibition theme and how each work relates to other works in the exhibition. The curator will review ALL of your submissions before making a final determination.
Dates & Delivery: Submissions are due by April 20th. A notification of the status of your submission(s) will be sent to you by email before May 1st. If your work is accepted into the exhibition, you will be responsible for transporting the work to and from the exhibition site on either May 10th between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm or by other arrangement with a volunteer representative of Rochester Art Collectors. The work will be on exhibit until August 15th and cannot be removed until the end of the exhibition. The pick up date is August 16th between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm or by other arrangement with a volunteer representative of Rochester Art Collectors.
Security & Insurance: The gallery is located in a building with security. Staff are present in the building at all times during normal weekday business hours. The gallery doors will be locked at all times unless there is a program/event being held in the space. Visitors may visit the gallery on any weekday and staff will open the space on a case-by-case basis as needed. Security staff are present on campus 24/7. You will be responsible for insuring your work of art during the exhibition including transportation to and from the venue. In any case, Rochester Art Collectors and St. John Fisher University will NOT be responsible for the security or the condition of your artwork.
