Resources Related to Art, Artists and Collecting In Our Region*
Research Artists and Past exhibitions:
This section was created to help collectors research artists in our region.
It should be noted the sources listed below are not always focused on local art/artists. In some cases the source may only touch on local artists occasionally. You should expect to do some digging after you click through to any particular site. On the other hand, a number of these sources are excellent. Some sources even offer archives going back many years!

A PARTIAL LISTING OF BUILDINGS OR COMPLEXES WITH ARTISTS' STUDIOS
Many collectors value the opportunity to meet and talk with artists in the space where they make their work. Studio visits can provide a wonderful opportunity to build a (deeper) relationship with an artist and their work.
It's important to be aware, generally, artists' studios are not open to the public except on occasion. We do not recommend "dropping in" on an artist without an appointment. Many artists work in their studio afterhours or at odd times. There's no guarantee the artist or the group you are interested in learning about will be at their studio at any given day/time. Occasionally you may learn about an individual artist; a group of artists; or an entire building will host a public "open studio" event or some other kind of program. In that case, stop by! Otherwise you'll have to reach out for an appointment.
The links below may not take you directly to any particular artist's studio information. (Rochester Art Collectors does not offer contact information about particular artists on this website as a matter of policy.) In some cases, a link below takes you to the building's landlord. You should also know there are groups of artists who share/sublet studios or sections of buildings. You may have to "dig in" to find the artist or group you are interested in visiting.
Lastly, there are almost certainly more such studio buildings in our region than are listed below. We'll do our best to update this list as time goes on.
It's important to be aware, generally, artists' studios are not open to the public except on occasion. We do not recommend "dropping in" on an artist without an appointment.
